Ex-NJ Gov McGreevey training to become priest

Excerpts from NY Post:

"Gay American" Jim McGreevey is spending his Sunday mornings with a new man -- Jesus.

The former New Jersey love gov has gone from Turnpike rest stops to the church rostrum as part of his training to become an Episcopal priest, working each weekend at All Saints Church in Hoboken.

McGreevey -- who resigned from office in disgrace in 2004 -- isn't far enough along in his seminary studies to actually give sermons, but he assists the Rev. Geoffrey Curtiss at three Masses on Sunday and participates in parish programs, donation drives and activities.

During services last week, McGreevey, wearing a white robe, carried the cross during the processional, helped Curtiss bless the Eucharist and helped baptize a group of babies and young children.

A beaming, bespectacled McGreevey -- himself the proud papa of two girls, Jacqueline, 7, and Morag, 17 -- took photos of the newly christened kids and their families afterward, and hugged and chatted with members of the congre gation while sipping coffee between Masses.

The noticeably graying ex-gov, 52, also welcomed parishioners with an enthusiastic "Good morning."

The churchgoers know him simply as "Jim," and he knows many of them personally.

McGreevey enrolled in a master of divinity program at the General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church in Chelsea in 2007. As part of his education, he started an 18-month training program at All Saints in April and is expected to stay until his graduation next spring.

McGreevey once described his quest for a third master's degree as a "spiritual journey," and said that "at different points in my life, I had grappled with the idea of going into the priesthood."

Episcopal priests can be married, whether they are male or female, straight or gay, unlike in the Roman Catholic Church, which used to count McGreevey as a member.
Another gay priest? Well, at least he's amongst friends.

Florida man Joshua Basso arrested for calling 911 asking for sex

Excerpts from NY Daily News:

Florida police say a man arrested for repeatedly calling 911 looking for sex claimed it was the only number he could dial after running out of cell phone minutes.
Tampa police said 29-year-old Joshua Basso made sexual comments to the 911 dispatcher and asked if he could come to her house. Investigators say she hung up, but he called back four more times.

He was arrested about 15 minutes later at his home late Wednesday and charged with making a false 911 call. Basso reportedly told officers that he didn't think he would get in trouble for calling 911.

Tampa jail records show Basso is being held without bond but don't indicate whether he has an attorney. He is listed as unemployed with arrests for theft and other crimes dating back to 2001.
I am laughing my ass off...What a bozo this guy is! Imagine being the 911 operator...Priceless...

Strippers-on-a-truck promotion halted in Vegas

Excerpts from MSNBC:

Live strippers on the back of a truck is too much — even for Sin City.

A Las Vegas strip club has agreed to stop an advertising promotion in which it hauled bikini-clad exotic dancers around in a truck with clear plastic sides.

Marketing Director Larry Beard of Deja Vu Showgirls said that he's taking his lawyer's advice and parking the truck.

Beard said earlier this week that he was prepared to fight county leaders and others who thought the moving truck promotion was unseemly or unsafe.

The truck rolled along the Las Vegas Strip from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m., trying to lure customers to the club. Three sides had untinted windows, offering views of the strippers dancing around a stripper pole.

What a great marketing campaign. I wonder if he was worried about the girls falling off the pole, or people crashing their cars as they drove past the display? Safer than driving while on a cell phone I assume.....

Lopez sues ex over honeymoon tape

Excerpts from CNN:

Apparently love does cost something.

Jennifer Lopez has filed a $10 million lawsuit against ex-husband Ojani Noa, whom she claims is violating a confidentiality agreement in place since 2004 by shopping around a sexy honeymoon video the two made in 1997.

The video, called "How I Married Jennifer Lopez: The J.Lo and Ojani Noa Story," reputedly includes Lopez, now 40, wearing skimpy clothing and supposedly being spanked by Noa. It reportedly also contains a fight between her and her mother.

Lopez wants all the footage of her handed over so her lawyers can see whether Noa violated their confidentiality agreement.

In 2007, she won a lawsuit that forbade him from publishing a tell-all book about their 11-month marriage. That book allegedly claimed Lopez frequently cheated on Noa, including with her current husband, Marc Anthony.

A Los Angeles judge has ordered Noa not to release the video while the case is being decided. A temporary restraining order stopping Noa from releasing the Lopez tape has been extended until the next hearing on December 1, according to a court spokesperson. On that date there will be an "order to show cause" hearing.
"I'm going to fight this," Noa, 35, said.
You know what, if you make sex tapes with the person you are with today, and then you leave that person, here's a hint, TAKE THEM WITH YOU, especially if you are famous. I feel sorry for Marc Anthony, she was probably doing things with Noa that she won't do with Marc, and doesn't want him to see her in action!

Germany cancel training to mourn Enke

Excerpts froom CNN:

Germany's national soccer team have cancelled their training session ahead of Saturday's friendly match with Chile after their goalkeeper, Robert Enke, was struck and killed by a train on Tuesday, in what police called an apparent suicide.

Enke, 32, died around 6:25 p.m. (12:25 p.m. ET), Hannover police press officer Stefan Wittke said in a statement.

"Preliminary police investigations indicate a suicide," Wittke said.

Police did not elaborate on what evidence they had that pointed to suicide, but Enke's close friend and advisor Jorg Neblung told the official Web site of football's world governing body FIFA: "I can confirm that it was suicide. Robert took his own life shortly before six o'clock."

It was widely expected that German coach Joachim Lowe would name Enke as his number one goalkeeper for the 2010 World Cup. The German Football Federation (DFB) have not yet confirmed whether the game against Chile will still be played.

The team's official Web site has been converted into a single-page memorial.

Enke captained Hannover 96, a team who currently lie tenth in Germany's Bundesliga top division, and had been capped by his national side eight times after making his debut aged 29.
His teammates were stunned by news of his death.

"We are in a state of shock," said team manager Oliver Bierhoff in a statement from the German Football Federation. "It is beyond words."

Enke had missed Germany's last four matches because of a bacterial infection, but had recently returned to action with Hannover.

"The leadership of the German national team never had any doubt that he was important for the team both as a goalkeeper and as a human being," the DFB statement said.

Enke is survived by his wife and eight-month-old daughter, who the couple adopted.

The couple's two-year-old daughter died in 2006 from a heart condition, and Honigstein said the loss of his child had taken a toll on Enke.

What a shame for this family and for the German fans. I thought I would add this today for all of my readers in Germany.
